That old chestnut, the ‘inmigrant’ inflating house prices beyond the reach of locals. The problem is a bit more complex than that, yes we have low wages but is that because of the lack of decent jobs? House prices are out of the reach of the vast majority of people in all rural areas, not just Wales. House prices are dictated by, among other things, the price of land because of planning ‘policies of misery’, the cost of building to higher standards and now in Wales it costs andother £4,000 per dwelling because of mandatory sprinkler systems.
Why not build for the ‘inmigrants’ and charge them a hefty premium for the privilege, they will pay their council tax and employ locals so if Welsh rural enterprise can’t provide decent jobs then why not let the ‘inmigrants’ do it?
