Martin Goodall's Planning Law Blog: Changes for Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas

Martin Goodall's Planning Law Blog: Changes for Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas

I see listed building that have been allowed to disintegrate simply because the owner was aggrieved by the designation. I have seen a 50 year old barn with a corrugated roof listed. One example of unsound designation is a couple of fields as a Historic Park and Garden without any evidence on any maps in history, the 19th century in particular.

What happens if someone is prosecuted and the courts discover that the designation is flawed?

Martin Goodall's Planning Law Blog: Holiday lets may be a change of use

Martin Goodall's Planning Law Blog: Holiday lets may be a change of use
Interesting. But, what class use applies in the case of a barn conversion to four holiday lets where the planning conditions allow 365 days use p.a. albeit with a 28 day limit per person or family group and a 'register' to record occupancy and compliance with said conditions?

This is one planning unit owned by one person or company and run on a commercial basis and as is the case in all such lets they qualify for business rates rather than council tax.

'Mr Wales' Appointed To Stimulate Housing Market : UK Construction News

'Mr Wales' Appointed To Stimulate Housing Market : UK Construction News

Persimmon Homes’ first and newly appointed Regional Managing Director for Wales, has immediately revealed a £800 million strategic plan to build 5,000 new homes across Wales which, based on Government estimates, will support and create in the order of 10,000 jobs in the associated supply chain in addition to providing the much needed new homes.

He said: "Having covered both England and Wales in my career I remember a time when Welsh Local Authorities and politicians were hugely proactive, creative and welcomed development with open arms, recognising the wider economic benefits it brought and the wealth creation generated by the economic activity.

"We need to get back to that and Politicians and Officers need to show leadership and bravery to kick down hurdles preventing development from happening, rather than constantly allowing new layers of regulation and bureaucracy which slows everything down.

*****************************************

The problem is that when they built ticky tacky houses everywhere the 'inmigrants' came in their droves.

That is a big political issue.

Report predicts further 7,000 job losses in Wales by end of summer - Wales News - News from @walesonline

"job losses in Wales by end of summer"

Should read:

"job losses in Wales by end of every summer"

The end of the tourist season always results in higher unemployment, it is seasonal work and Wales needs to move away from the vagaries of fickle weather affected tourism, the other fly in the ointment is agriculture.

Wales deserves better.

Welsh farmers reap the reward of a growing appetite for meat - Wales News - News from @walesonline

“However, the increase is also due to a rise in the Single Payment, which represents on average between 80% and 90% of farm income.

Sums it all up really, farming is unviable without the funds we send to the EU being returned and paid to farmers, minus the EU commission of course.
