BBC News - Homelessness in Wales at five-year high prompts Shelter Cymru warning

BBC News - Homelessness in Wales at five-year high prompts Shelter Cymru warning: The Welsh government is also inviting responses to a paper published earlier in December by housing minister Huw Lewis setting out the challenges and priorities for housing in Wales, with the possibility of new legislation on the matter.

New legislation?

Wales is constrained by its planning system.

It is just £14,743 in Dwyfor Meirionnydd, it is the lowest in the entire UK.

This is the average wage in Plaid Cymru heartland, is it because of Plaid policies or is it because of the land being designated both an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a National Park, these 'jewels' are supposed to bring in £millions of tourist money each year, where does it go?

What is the problem with the prospect of much needed employment? National parks have an often sidelined and even ignored duty to foster the social and economic wellbeing of the residents.

Snowdonia Society NIMBYs and the puppet planners just don't get it do they?

Welsh landlords asked to raise building goals News Inside Housing

"There are currently 91,000 people on council waiting lists in Wales"
Do we know how many people there are in Wales who don't qualify for the lists or have given up all hope?
The housing association of which I am a member wants to build on our land, the planners say NO. The need is for 82 and rising.

That old chestnut, the ‘inmigrant’ inflating house prices beyond the reach of locals. The problem is a bit more complex than that, yes we have low wages but is that because of the lack of decent jobs? House prices are out of the reach of the vast majority of people in all rural areas, not just Wales. House prices are dictated by, among other things, the price of land because of planning ‘policies of misery’, the cost of building to higher standards and now in Wales it costs andother £4,000 per dwelling because of mandatory sprinkler systems.
Why not build for the ‘inmigrants’ and charge them a hefty premium for the privilege, they will pay their council tax and employ locals so if Welsh rural enterprise can’t provide decent jobs then why not let the ‘inmigrants’ do it?

A lovely view of Wales for those who drive here with their gas guzzlers puffing out all those toxic fumes? Does that make it right to strangle it with red tape?
Oh, those who serve to protect the landscape for the ‘tourists’ will benefit from more landscape designations as will the CCW, ah well, why not make the whole of Wales an NPA-AONB, most of the people are leaving anyway. International human rights observers call it ‘soft eviction’ or ‘voluntary resettlement’.
Is this what the Welsh deserve? Being described as somewhere that posh people visit? A museum?
Siomedig iawn.
BTW, the ‘tourists’ were visiting all these ‘special places’ long before some muppet drew a line round them. In fact they were coming long before planning law became a NIMBY’s dream.
